In a World of AI, Let’s Make Something Real Together
Everywhere you look right now, images and videos generated by AI are flooding the internet. Perfectly polished, sometimes surreal, often flawless in a way that feels… well, not human.
But weddings and events aren’t flawless.
They’re real.
They’re full of personality, ambiance, and a little bit of beautiful chaos. The way the groom’s hand shakes before he takes his vows. The tears in a mother’s eyes. The way candlelight flickers across a room filled with laughter. The unexpected rain shower that turns into the most magical backdrop.
At The League of Extraordinary Artists, led by photographer and filmmaker Vincent Hogan, we pride ourselves on capturing real, authentic moments with intention and heart.
A Foundation in Film
I grew up shooting film and motion picture, processing my own rolls and working in the darkroom. Back then, you had to know light, timing, and technique. There was no “fix it later.” You wouldn’t even see the results until you processed the negatives and stepped into the darkroom to make blow-ups.
In true photojournalistic style, the goal was always to capture it as close to perfect in-camera as possible, with only minimal dodging and burning — techniques used to slightly lighten or darken a print. That discipline shaped how I see the world through a lens today.
Even now, in the digital age, I carry that same philosophy: capture honestly, light intentionally, and preserve the integrity of the moment.
Why Live Events Are My Greatest Challenge
Across my career, I’ve had the privilege of capturing a wide gamut of images for commercial productions. In a studio, photographing a product means planning every angle, moving lights until it’s “right” or “approved,” and working in a fully controlled environment.
But a live event is different — and far more challenging.
It’s not always perfectly planned or executed. The light changes. The timing shifts. The emotions are raw and unrepeatable. Yet with genuine passion for the moments we capture, the right skills, and the proper gear, we anticipate and execute these fleeting instances — while keeping them real.
Let’s face it: adjusting a studio light until a product looks perfect is far easier than capturing a tear of joy during a dance in a dimly lit room, surrounded by people, with no second chances.
But you know what? I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
This challenge motivates me to work harder. It gives me a sense of purpose I don’t take lightly. Because in the end, we are responsible for documenting your day, your event, your moment — frozen in time.
Our Stance on AI
We’re not against AI. In fact, we use it daily as a tool in our workflow — for organization, preparation, planning, and efficiency. Where we draw the line is in using AI to manipulate our imagery into something it’s not.
Because at the end of the day, we are human after all. And that’s what makes our work meaningful. The value is in the emotion, the imperfection, and the lived reality that no algorithm can replicate.
We don’t want to create moments that never happened. We don’t want to turn your wedding into something artificial. We want to capture it truthfully — the way it looked, the way it felt.
Our goal is to attract and work with clients who understand and agree with that philosophy. Clients who value authenticity over fabrication, and who believe that the beauty of a wedding or event lies in its reality — the ambiance, the mood, the people, and the personality that can’t be faked.
Weddings Aren’t Fake. They’re Lived.
A wedding is not a curated image on a screen — it’s a lived experience and your story. It’s the ambiance of the space, the mood of the music, the way design choices reflect a couple’s personality. It’s vendors working tirelessly behind the scenes, and guests carrying the joy of the day long after the last song plays.
That reality is what makes each event extraordinary — and what makes documenting it truthfully so important.
